I'd like to present to you my finished object: The SECOND pair of socks that I finished in the month of August! Granted it took me years to finish (I think I started this pair of socks either in 2002 or 2003) but it's finally done, dammit! I call them the fugli-ringel socks because of (1) the name of the yarn (Mini-ringel), which is a yarn whose colors I like very much, and (2) the fact that I did all-over 2x2 ribbing and it sort of muddled the stripes, I'm sad to say. So it has a little bit of fugly-ness to it. I've posted it to Ravelry under the
UGH! Support Group. I'm totally not going to frog these though, because a finished object is a finished object, plain and simple! Well, to me at least. I so rarely finish anything (knitting-wise, crocheting-wise, craft-wise) that everything I
do finish is a joy in its own way, despite not liking the yarn or the process or running into problems or what have you. I think when I have finished a
lot more projects I will openly express my dislike for them if that's the case, but for today, I will rejoice in whatever fugly-ness in my FO there might be, while I still can. :)
In other non-knitting news, the family and I are thinking of taking a trip to
Dragon*Con today. The admission is a bit pricey but seriously, I am a sci-fi TV fan and I want to see sci-fi celebs! Hubby wants to hear the
Ghost Hunters speak, which I think would be great, because we both love that
show. The thing is, they will be appearing at 5:30-ish today, and I don't know if that'll be good for the kids. They might be tired by then. We'll see how it goes with the kids. If we don't get to go to that, we most likely will to the
Decatur Book Festival, which I know sounds terribly blah, but, I actually think it'll be kinda cool. (Hubby is interested because he's never been to Decatur before. Neither have I for that matter.) The nice thing is that they'll have a stage for kid-themed music and shows, so I think it'd be nice for the kids to see that.
That'll be it for now. Have a great weekend!
